'All-American Boy' Steve Grand Wants You to 'Stay'

Steve Grand -- who made as much of a splash with his viral country ditty "All-American Boy" as he did for posing nekkid -- is back with a new song. And if you're wondering who the hot object of his affection is, it's Jayson Smith, former Marine and a bartender at JRs in Washington. A friend tells me Jayson is the "sweetest guy in the world," to which I say: Why wouldn't he be?!

Not big fan of either, but I have a whole new level of respect for Vika and Serena today. Incredible final from both in extremely difficult conditions. What could have been a disaster of a match ended up having all the elements thanks to Azarenka's refusal to fold when it seemed she would. Kudos to Serena for stepping up her game when she needed to most. Five U.S. Opens for Williams now, and 17 majors overall as she closes in on Chris and Martina's 18.

Song of the Day: 'A Public Affair' by Jessica Simpson

They were making fun of Jessica Simpson on some show last night when word leaked that she was interested in "going back into the recording studio." But in what might be my most embarrassing music moment ever -- challenged only by my love of Paris Hilton's singles -- I must admit I love this Jessica song from 2006, which I believe was the last time she even pretended she wasn't the modern-day Zsa Zsa Gabor. You just know she was completely stumped when she saw the lyrics "carte blanche" on the paper in front of her -- she sounds like the ABBA women phonetically singing English!

Sad to hear that Robin Quivers is fighting cancer. Here's wishing her a full and speedy recovery. She was always my favorite part of that show back when I had a 55-mile -- each way! -- commute when I lived in the Southland.

It Got Better for Wentworth Miller

Former "Prison Break" hunk Wentworth Miller -- who came out publicly last month after "choosing to lie" when he began his career in Hollywood -- revealed details over the weekend of his struggle with his sexuality. The Daily News reports:
Speaking at the Human's Right Campaign Dinner in Seattle on Saturday, Miller, 41, confessed that he tried to commit suicide "more than once," as he struggled to understand his sexuality. The actor admits the first time he tried to kill himself was at 15 years old, speaking to an audience in a video obtained by TMZ. "I waited until my family went away for the weekend and I was alone in the house and I swallowed a bottle of pills," he said. "I don't remember what happened over the next couple of days but I'm pretty sure come Monday morning I was on the bus back to school pretending everything was fine." "Growing up I was a target. Speaking the right way, standing the right way, holding your wrist the right way. Every day was a test and there was a thousand ways to fail." The actor says he was 15 the first time, when he "swallowed a bottle of pills."
The actor said he "chose to lie" when he began a career in Hollywood. "When I thought about the possibility of coming out, how that might impact me and the career I worked so hard for, I was filled with fear." Eventually, Miller broke his silence with the letter declining an invitation to the Russian festival, openly slamming the country's rule banning "homosexual propaganda."
Sad, but not atypical. Things have improved, but the suicides continue all too often. Here's hoping I live to this become the exception not the rule. Watch HERE.

Gay Sex and the City

Two Men, 58 Years and Counting. A Love Story.

It's not every day you get to hear about the "good old days" of gay sex in the New York Times -- “Unbelievable! And the toilets in the subways — in those days if you traveled, say, 14th Street to 59th Street, you had to make at least three stops on the way, to check out every toilet ... there was always gay activity going on in the toilets. And I think it cost a nickel to get in in those days” -- but that's why this article about this cute couple who have been together 58 years is so deelish! Read HERE.

George Zimmerman Taken Into Custody After Incident With Gun, Police Say

ClickOrlando reports:
George Zimmerman has been taken into custody in Central Florida after an incident involving a gun with another person. Lake Mary police say they were called to a house on Sprucewood Road Monday afternoon after a report that Zimmerman was involved in an altercation with another person with a threat involved. Lake Mary police spokesman Zach Hudson said police are "trying to determine what exactly happened." No other details were immediately available. The fight comes days after Shellie Zimmerman filed for divorce and discussed her relationship with George Zimmerman on a TV interview. Since being acquitted, George Zimmerman has been pulled over twice for speeding.
I ask: What the hell is wrong with this person?

UPDATE: It was Zimmerman's estranged wife. On 911 call, she says George Zimmerman punched her dad, smashed iPad, threatened them with gun

I don't have any huge place in my heart for "The Big Chill" -- I saw it and liked it, but I was more preoccupied with Tom Cruise in "Risky Business" that summer. But this reunion photo of the cast 30 years later -- taken at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival -- is awfully sweet, even if it's missing Kevin Costner's corpse (again). Read HERE.

Rafa!

Sure didn't enjoy watching Rafael Nadal dismantle Novak Djokovic in the U.S. Open final earlier tonight, but at least I had the pleasure of being right. Not that it took a high tennis IQ to predict this one. Djokovic impressed me in the second set and beginning of the third with his ability to play Nadal's backhand so effectively -- something no one seems to be able to do -- but as successful as he was at that, he just couldn't stop making unforced errors, blowing a third-set break and a 40-love lead on Nadal's serve for another. That's not going to get the job done against The Machine. Bjorn Borg and Roger Federer will always be my men, and Chris Evert and Steffi Graf will always be my women. But as much as it pains me to admit this, there's really no denying anymore that when they are at their best, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams are the two best tennis players to ever play the game, even if they don't end up shattering their predecessors' records. Just too good.
