Song of the Day: 'Storms' by Best Coast
Best Coast covered "Rhiannon" for a Fleetwood Mac tribute album a few years ago, but clearly wasn't satisfied with just one song. Get a tiny Madonna vibe off Bethany Cosentino's live vocal, which was recorded on Jimmy Fallon or the BBC, depending on your source.

Wrestle Wednesday
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) was an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State University in the 1980s and 1990s. The team's doctor, Richard Strauss, is now dead, but has been accused of being a serial sexual predator. Jordan has now been accused by nine wrestlers of knowing about the abuse and doing nothing -- in one case even "laughing" about it. With these kind of credentials, he seems like the perfect Speaker of the House for the Trump era ...

And Then There Were Four x Two
Well there was certainly no lack of drama at the All England Club, even if only one of the four men's semifinals went the way I wanted it to -- Novak Djokovic beat Kei Nishikori. (Would it kill Juan Martin del Potro to wake up before the match started?) Although I wasn't thrilled Kevin Anderson gave his Obama-bashing wife something to cheer about, I was even more disgusted that John Isner beat Milos Raonic. (Do we really need a geriatric Trump sympathizer in the semifinals of Wimbledon?) In years past one would think the winner of Djokovic and Nadal would be the obvious eventual winner. But given their advanced ages and levels of fragility, I'm scared either one of them could end up losing to either one of the giants. [Sigh.]
On the women's side I will say that with all Top 10 players being eliminated before the quarterfinals, it still wound up being a pretty respectable final four. While I still think it's Serena's to lose, I'm rooting for Kerber to win it all. Interestingly, Ostapenko has never played Serena, so it's hard to gauge who has a better shot against the mother GOAT.

I'm notoriously turned off by web series. (I also don't get podcasts.) But no sooner did I cave into "EastSiders" Netflix went and picked it up. Here's hoping the same happens to Brian Sloan and Mark Sam Rosenthal's "West 40s," whose pilot (below) looks like the start of something special.

Song of the Day: 'Head Over Heels' (live on Broadway) by the Go-Go's
The Go-Go's made a surprise appearance on Broadway last night, where I hear they performed "Our Lips Are Sealed" and "Head Over Heels" with the cast of their new musical. The New York Times did a fun piece about five of the show's songs, -- producer Richard Gottehrer is pretty bitchy about the "Vacation" album(!) and Belinda Carlisle had this to say about the title track:
That was the beginning of the end, that album. We were run ragged, we didn’t know how to say no. The song has an upbeat, cheerful melody and lyrically it really captures the darker side of fame and fortune — I had an appreciation for the lyrics then but not like I do now in hindsight.
