Stop Using Sex as a Weapon, Girl
Wausau woman accused of holding two men hostage
Wausau Daily Herald reports:
A 52-year-old Wausau woman is accused of holding two men in an apartment against their will and demanding sex from one of the men in two bizarre incidents on Monday. Terry L. Boyd appeared Tuesday in Marathon County Circuit Court on charges of false imprisonment, obstructing an officer, disorderly conduct and bail jumping. A judge ordered Boyd released on a $1,500 signature bond. One of the men, a roommate of Boyd who Daily Herald Media will not name because he is the victim of an alleged crime, told police Boyd locked the men in the room and said the men couldn’t leave until one of them had sex with her.

Song of the Day: 'Louis Quatorze' by Bow Wow Wow
Picked this for the Song of the Day because I wanted to bring to fellow '80s music fans' attention that Bow Wow Wow bassist Leigh Gorman has taken to touring as "Bow Wow Wow" with zero other members -- including Annabella Lwin. (Singer Chloe Demetria may look the part from a distance, but there's only one Annabella.) To fight back against this foolishness, Ms. Lwin has started a new Facebook page that you can like HERE, where she has started to announce fall tour dates. With original guitarist Matthew Ashman having passed away, and drummer David Barbarossa moving on from music -- he recently wrote a novel -- a true Bow Wow Wow reunion will never happen. But if anyone has the right to tour as Bow Wow Wow, it's Annabaella. Show her your support HERE.

Some Thanks
A sad day for copy editors everywhere. The genius behind the New York Post's most famous headline -- there's a huge version of the cover up on the newsroom, for crying out loud! -- was just let go.
Via Romenesko:
A Post editor’s note to V.A. Musetto:
“Dear Vincent, I’m sorry, but because of budget cutbacks we cannot give you any further reviewing assignments. Your review of THE GRANDMASTER next week is your final assignment.”Musetto had been writing film reviews in recent years.

Minus 16 Candles
Had never heard of Pamela Redmond Satran's book "Younger," but apparently Darren Starr is in the process of making a TV show out of the story of a suddenly single 40-year-old New Jersey mom who moves to Manhattan, rolls her age back to her 20s, and gets a job in publishing. (And no, it's not my life story.) Sounds like a hoot -- now I'm trying to think which 40ish actress could possibly look and play the part. Any ideas? A friend suggested Heather Graham, but since she really is in her 40s, something tells me Hollywood won't cast her -- opting instead for a 32-year-old playing a 40-year-old playing a 24-year-old! The book is available HERE. Deadline has more details HERE.

The F (Off) Train
Well, it's only my third recent attempt at this -- I had done a few in the early days of KIT212, but mostly from behind -- but I'm pretty sure I was caught today, which means it will likely be my last. I was told by the master (Boy Culture's Matt) that no one would confront me if I'm "any good at it," but I noticed this guy pantomiming for his friends someone snapping cellphone photos, which was an obvious reference to me. (Oops.) If he had actually confronted me, however, I already had my response lined up: It's not my fault you're so hot I had to take your picture!!!

Vika Done!
Not a huge fan of Victoria Azarenka's, but have to give her credit for beating Serena Williams today in a third-set tiebreak to take home the big prize in Cincinnati. More than anything, this win -- just her third in 15 matches against the world number 1 -- might make the game a little more interesting. Vika should have won last year's U.S. Open final, but Williams was just to mentally tough to let her have it. Here's hoping for a dramatic rematch next month in New York.

It's Not Easy Being Greenwald's Partner
No Miranda rights here
Some disturbing news out of London's Heathrow Airport today. The partner of a Glenn Greenwald, the Guardian journalist who wrote stories exposing mass U.S. surveillance programs, was held by the police for nine hours under the Terrorism Act
The Telegraph reports:
David Miranda was passing through London's Heathrow Airport today on his way home to Rio de Janeiro.
Mr Miranda, who lives with the reporter Glenn Greenwald, the journalist who interviewed American whistleblower Edward Snowden, was stopped at 8 a.m. returning from a trip to Berlin.
The Guardian reported that Mr Miranda was questioned under schedule seven of the Terrorism Act 2000, which applies only at airports, ports and border areas, allowing officers to stop, search, question and detain individuals.Greenwald later told The New York Times:
The 28-year-old was held for nine hours -- the maximum the law allows before officers must release or formally arrest the individual -- before being released without charge.
But the newspaper reported his electronic possessions including his mobile phone, laptop, camera, memory sticks, DVDs and games consoles were confiscated.
“What’s amazing is this law, called the Terrorism Act, gives them a right to detain and question you about your activities with a terrorist organization or your possible involvement in or knowledge of a terrorism plot,” Mr. Greenwald said. “The only thing they were interested in was N.S.A. documents and what I was doing with Laura Poitras. It’s a total abuse of the law.” He added: “This is obviously a serious, radical escalation of what they are doing. He is my partner. He is not even a journalist.”
