Wonderfully inclusive speech tonight by President Obama. Rather than dwelling on what Washington has not accomplished -- and there is plenty to dwell on -- he celebrated the improvements over the past 12 months in the economy, health care and equality, and he offered concrete plans for what could be done moving forward. He was so nonconfrontational, in fact, it made the rebuttals sound petty and trite. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers was quite a choice, though, spending nearly all of her time talking about herself and her God. One of the few times she did try to focus on the issues, however, she immediately stuck her foot in her (inordinately dry) mouth, as Planned a Parenthood was quick to point out. (Anyone else think she was about to beg Marco Rubio for a sip?) And I loved how she declared that Obamacare -- which has mostly been in effect a few months -- just "wasn't working," yet the GOP is begging to continue the war in Afghanistan 12 years on.
Well done, Mr. President.
