There was certainly a lot of snickering about Madonna's appearance on Sunday night's Grammys. Ill-advised grill aside, all I have to say about the topic is:
1. Getting older is not fun (speaking from personal experience);
and
2. She is in a very unique position, as we rarely have gotten to witness pop culture icons of her status fully mature. (Even Cher has opted out of the aging process.) We've already lost Whitney and Michael Jackson, so rather than dissing on superstars of a certain age, maybe it's time we embrace them, and remember that they -- and we -- won't be around forever.
