Strode of Genius

Cannot wait to go see "Halloween" on the big screen this weekend for the very first time! An HD transfer of John Carpenter's 1978 horror classic will be shown in theaters around the country for a week starting Thursday, giving the film its widest release since it shocked audiences 34 years ago this month. As regular readers know, I was obsessed with horror films as a kid -- who could forget my star turn in "The Babysitter?" or getting my brother to take me and my friends to see "He Knows You're Alone," "The Day After Halloween," "The Howling," "Friday the 13th," "Eyes of a Stranger" and "Motel Hell" at the drive-in? -- but none more so than "Halloween," which brilliantly cast the daughter of the lady in the shower from "Psycho"' as babysitter Laurie Strode, and had the scariest villain and music of all time! It came out a bit before "before my time," so I've only ever seen its inferior sequel, "Halloween 2," in the theater. Am so excited to finally right this childhood wrong! My pal Erik has the full story about Austin Hinderliter's snazzy new poster (above) for the "Halloween" re-release HERE.
