Patriots Owner: I Signed Tebow to Improve 'Spirituality'

This post is probably going to cause more trouble than it's worth, but did anyone else see what New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft said yesterday about why he signed Tim Tebow?
The New York Post reports
“For me personally, having Tim Tebow on this team, he’s someone who believes in spirituality, he’s very competitive, works hard and has a great attitude,” Kraft said at a charity event at Gillette Stadium honoring his late wife. “He’s a winner, and the fact that spirituality is so important to him is very appealing to me.”
“You can’t have enough good people around you, and [Tebow] has the added dimension of spirituality being so important to him, and that personally appeals to me a lot,” Kraft added.
Now I realize the owner of a football team can sign whoever he wants for whatever reason he wants. But still, I was stunned by his forthrightness. Tim is the third-string quarterback, and Kraft also made it clear he has no intention of using him when he has the "greatest quarterback of all time" on the team, and a top backup in Ron Mallett, so there's no hidden meaning in the reason he's saying he has Tebow on the squad. Christians are constantly saying how persecuted they are (!), yet here's a billionaire readily admitting he hired someone because of their Christian faith. (Also worth mentioning: Tebow was selected to be one of the two players designated to speak to the media each week -- along with Brady -- and Tebow's jersey is being hyped on the team's website, even though Kraft claims he's "just one of 90 players.)

I guess what I'm trying to say is this: Does anyone think the media -- or, should I say, the conservative media -- would have been making a federal case out of this if a team owner blatantly admitted he had hired someone because they were black or Hispanic or Muslim or Jewish or gay, etc.?

So much for how some religious people might feel uncomfortable about sharing a locker room with a gay guy. It sounds like Mr. Kraft has enlisted Tim Tebow to add a "dimension of spirituality" to the Patriots and if you're not on-board with, too damn bad!
