Not too many music careers have been as filled with contradictions as Joan Jett's. On the one hand, she's the ultimate tough-girl rocker chick, yet she's stunningly feminine and beautiful in photos and videos. She had the biggest single of 1982, yet has always managed to maintain an "underground" cult status. And while she's best known for her cover songs, she's actually a damn good songwriter, something that has been sorely overlooked.
